Probably bad power supply. Will check it out this afternoon after lunch.
This is where I will let everybody know what’s up with fly, the CS cluster in ASH 130

Bad power supply, yes. Also bad motherboard. Reboots after post. Swapped out power supply with two different ones, one brand-new, tried replacing RAM and CPU as well – same symptoms. I guess I’ll replace the guts with what I was going to put in compute-1-2 instead.

Heh. Turns out it was the hard drive (who knew a bad hard drive could make that happen? You learn something new every day)… but I only figured that out after putting an FX-8120 and 16GB of RAM in that case – so I guess compute-1-2’ll get the Phenom II X4 that was compute-1-12 at some point…

Um. The hard drive just died again? But this time it just can’t find it. I guess I did put a very old drive in there…. will replace it again.

Put an old 250GB PATA drive in it… seems happy now. It had an ancient 30GB drive in it
