compute-1-18 and compute-1-3

These two nodes weren’t running tractor – they had rebooted themselves and reinstalled. Compute-1-18 5 days, 11:39 uptime and compute-1-3 1 day, 5:18. Not sure why – neither has anything in the logs nor shows anything particularly suspicious in ganglia.

compute-1-3 did it again. I’m switching it to regular power to see if it still does it. If it does it again, I’ll replace its power supply.

compute-1-3 did it AGAIN. I’m starting to think maybe it needs a new CPU cooler or maybe the FX-8350 just creates too much heat for that chassis. It got a new power supply last year, so that shouldn’t be it. Maybe it’s time to upgrade this one to an i3 or something

If I do that, I can put this motherboard and processor in the drome machine….

I bought a new i3-6100/32G setup for that node. 1/3 the heat, similar computing power. Meanwhile I’m leaving it out of tractor.

That i3-6100 setup didn’t work out for various reasons. I replaced the cooler with a dynatron. Didn’t do it. Removed some of the things blocking the airflow. Probably will just do it again, in which case I’ll remove and replace with something else.
